Anthony (Tony) Sanders, Sr. — New South Parking SFO (Local 665)

For 27 years, when Anthony (Tony) Sanders, Sr. has not been playing Santa Claus, he’s been working as a cashier at New South Parking at the San Francisco Airport. A member of Local 665, Tony has served as a shop steward for the last 18 years.

What’s great about the job, he says, is that while “it’s the same job every day, there’s something new and different every day and I meet different people every day.” It’s the people who keep it interesting.

Members at Auto Return in SF ratify new contract 

Teamsters at Auto Return are responsible for receiving, inventory, and releasing thousands of vehicles that are towed by the City of San Francisco each month. In July, they unanimously ratified a new 5-year agreement that gives each employee wage increases every year of the contract and improvements in the 401k plan. Auto Return members will also enjoy full maintenance of their medical benefits package throughout the agreement.

“I thank the members at Auto Return for their solidarity throughout these negotiations,” said Local 665 Secretary-Treasurer Tony Delorio.

AAA Insurance Sales Agents unite for a voice on the Job

AAA insurance sales agents across Northern California voted overwhelmingly to join Teamsters Local 665 in June. The election was conducted by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) via mail-in ballot.

The 460 insurance sales agents work at 77 locations stretching from Merced to the Oregon border.

UPS driver spots 86-year-old woman bleeding in street, carries her to hospital

SANTA ROSA, Calif. – An 86-year-old woman from Santa Rosa says a UPS driver came to her rescue in the middle of his workday.

On her way to a medical appointment, Magda Vahey fell and broke her wrist while crossing the street near Providence Santa Rosa Hospital last month.

UPS spokeswoman Amanda Catala said Devon Brooks saw the woman lying in the middle of the street bleeding and ran to help.… Read more »

Teamsters rally for AAA sales agents seeking representation

The Teamster 665 campaign for AAA agents shifted into high gear with an April 24 rally in front of San Francisco’s City Hall that drew hundreds of workers, their families, and Teamster members from around Northern California.

Between chants of “AAA – TEAMSTERS!” from the crowd of supporters, state and local elected officials stepped up to the microphone to offer encouragement to the 460 AAA workers who are preparing for an NLRB election scheduled for May 14.

Spin’s electric scooter workers ratify first contract

Workers for e-scooter company Spin voted overwhelmingly in November to ratify their first union contract with Local 665.

The workers joined Local 665 via card check agreement in late 2018. The challenges of the economic downturn have made it difficult to push forward new proposals for improvements in working conditions in various industries. Nonetheless, Local 665 successfully negotiated deals at some high-profile locations that the membership approved.
