Great concrete contracts

 

Local 150 ratified a historic agreement with Cemex in February. Ron Cannizzaro served as chief spokesman, backed up by a tough fighting committee, reports Local 150 Secretary-Treasurer Dale Wentz proudly. “The end result of these negotiations was double-time pay, and $8 an hour over three years—the highest wage increase that the members have ever seen.”

Similarly, at Syar Concrete, Wentz reports that members were able to secure a $5 an hour raise the first year of the contract,

New contract at Syar Industries

The members at Syar Industries recently ratified their new three-year contract. “This may be the most lucrative contract that the Sacramento and the Fairfield plants have ever seen,” says Secretary-Treasurer Sal Lomelli.

The members will receive $7.50/hour over the three years. They decided to take $5.00/hour in wages in the first year. $.75/hour in wages and $.50/hour in the pension in year two, and $.50/hour each in wages and pension in year three.

Best contract with Save-Mart

On October 15, the Teamsters working at the Save Mart Distribution Center ratified a 3-year contract that includes upgraded medical insurance through the Northern California General Teamsters Security Fund, improved bidding procedures, and significant pension and wage increases. 

“This is the best contract our Save-Mart members have ever earned,” said Secretary-Treasurer Dale Wentz. Business Agent Conor Tobin assisted Principal Spokesperson Ron Cannizzaro during the long negotiations. “Ron’s experience and expertise were apparent every step of the way,” Wentz added.

Member takes quick action

Local 150 member Jim Stenson is a Driver for American Metals in West Sacramento.  On August 30, 2021,  he was driving down Interstate 80 in Richmond and witnessed a carjacking in progress. A fugitive on the run from law enforcement was attempting to pull a woman out of her vehicle by her hair just 2 vehicles ahead of his tractor.

Teamsters complete Southport Levee Improvement Project

Local 150’s Construction Division has completed the work on the Sacramento Southport Levee Improvement Project, providing flood protection to the City of Sacramento.

Starting with three Teamster drivers, AECOM began work on this project in 2017. Until the project was completed late last year, Local 150 members placed approximately 20,000 linear feet of setback levee, with 3 breaches of existing levee and breaches varied in length from 1,100-1,400 feet. All told, members ran  38 Articulated Dump Trucks and three Water Trucks These members worked six days a week March through November,

ABG members stand strong for good contract

 

The members of Teamsters Local 150 who work at Avis Budget Group (ABG) recently ratified their richest contract ever—in Sacramento and perhaps in the nation.  “The Vehicle Service Agents (VSAs) are a strong and unified group at the Sacramento International Airport who were determined and fearless when it came to the negotiations,” says Business Agent Nancy Jones.

The negotiating process with the company began in a rather heated style, but neither Jones nor long-time Shop Stewards Kenny Peel or Salesh Prasad were willing to tolerate any antics.
