(WASHINGTON) – Today, the Teamsters reached the most historic tentative agreement for workers in the history of UPS, protecting and rewarding more than 340,000 UPS Teamsters nationwide. The overwhelmingly lucrative contract raises wages for all workers, creates more full-time jobs, and includes dozens of workplace protections and improvements. The UPS Teamsters National Negotiating Committee unanimously endorsed the five-year tentative agreement.

Great news – Assembly Bill 214 in the Nevada State Legislature has become law! Last night, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo signed the Bill into law, which strengthens safety measures for transit workers by expanding the state’s public transit agency advisory board with 2 labor representatives. VICTORY!!! A zoning appeal victory for the Teamsters Union has effectively stopped the expansion of autonomous (AV) car-maker WAYMO following a 10-0 vote by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors supporting the union’s claim that the company had not been forthright in its application to alter the use of a large distribution center in the city’s industrial area.

Fighting for the Teamster drivers and the California driving public, Teamsters from Joint Councils 7 and 42 came together in force on January 30 at the state Capitol to demand that the legislature take action to mandate a human operator on all autonomous vehicles (AVs) over 10,000 pounds. Nearly 300 Teamsters were joined by the California Labor Federation and other union members to say, loud and clear, “No AVs without human operators!” Assemblymembers Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) and Tom Lackey (R-Palmdale) introduced a bill (AB316) meeting that demand.

The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund is open now for applications. The fund awards $1,000 to $10,000 to high school seniors planning to attend a four-year college or university, and $500 to $2,000 for use at community colleges or trade schools. The scholarships are available to the sons, daughters, and financial dependents of Teamster members—including BLET, BMWED, and GCC members.
