Whether at the bargaining table or in the workplace, Joint Council 7 Local Unions hold management accountable and demand the respect members deserve. As a Joint Council, and as Teamsters across the country, it is imperative that we also dedicate the time, energy and resources necessary to organizing new members at non-union employers, particularly at big corporations such as Amazon whose business model is built on taking advantage of workers.
Keep readingAfter three years of battling for our members at UNFI, Teamsters Local 853 secured an incredible win for its members. Due to a contract violation over wage rates, Business Agent and Vice President Ray Torres enforced the merits of the agreement, arguing that significant back pay was due to these members.
The company did not agree that they had violated the collective bargaining agreement, and so began a three-year grievance that ultimately resulted in arbitration.

Mechanics, operation specialists, dispatchers and fleet ambassadors at Spin in the City of San Jose have won union recognition, joining Teamsters Local 665 as a regional bargaining unit.
“Local 665 has represented Spin workers in San Francisco for the last few years since they launched. This win solidifies and expands our organizing strategy,” said Tony Delorio, Secretary-Treasurer at Local 665. “We look forward to continuing to connect with workers in the tech industry to improve their lives and ensure they have a voice at work.

The Local 533 team from Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits won first place: $2500 to their favorite charity which focuses on Northern Nevada Union Apprentice Programs.

“I’ve been working at this company for 30 years and I’ve been waiting all these years for a raise and thank God, we’ve achieved it,” said Negotiating Committee Member Elisabeth Zamora. “We couldn’t have done it alone. It’s an honor to belong to this great Teamsters family,” she continued.

The event, featuring a 5K and 10K run/walk, brings together thousands of community members to help combat hunger during the holiday season.
The Women’s Committee saw this as an opportunity to support the community while promoting solidarity and service.
