NVision Eye Center overwhelmingly votes to join Teamsters Local 150

In December, NVision Eye Center employees voted to join Teamsters Local 150. “We would like to thank I.B.T. Organizing Director Chris Rosell and his team, along with Western Region Vice President Peter Finn and the Teamsters Joint Council 7 Organizers, for making this effort an overwhelming success,” said Local 150 Secretary-Treasurer Dale Wentz.

“The work these folks perform on a daily basis has a direct impact on the health of our community,” said Peter Finn, Western Region Vice President and Joint Council 7 President.  “They are fighting for dignity, respect, and equality at work. This victory demonstrates their desire to form their union and overwhelmingly, choosing Teamsters Local 150 as their bargaining representative. This campaign is a perfect example of what can be accomplished when the Joint Council 7 Organizing team, IBT Organizing Department and local affiliates work together in coordination. At the end of the day, these workers did the heavy lifting. Now it’s time to get the company to the table and begin bargaining,” Finn said.

“The healthcare team at NVision came together with the goal of unionizing because we were tired of being undervalued and ignored by the people in charge,” said Registered Nurse Cody Parsons. “Time and time again, the administration showed that they didn’t care to listen to their employees no matter what feedback we had to give. It was leading to a rapid decline in the workplace morale and the quality of the work we were capable of performing. We finally had enough and decided that if NVision’s admin wouldn’t take us seriously as individuals, they were going to have to reckon with us collectively,” Parsons continued.
