Summer safety; BA Update
July 21, 2026Summer is upon us and I just want to remind everyone to please watch children around water. Drowning continues to be the leading cause of accidental death for children ages 1 to 4, and can happen quickly and silently, and not necessarily during swim times. Please be vigilant because it requires multiple layers of protection to ensure children’s safety.
Congratulations to Brian Indelicato on becoming a Business Agent for Local 315 beginning in April of this year. Due to the closure of Budweiser Fairfield, Local 896 needed to respond to the changes in our Northern California operations with the number one priority of Brian continuing to represent the remaining 896 members. Brian gives some of the best member-service of any BA I have ever seen, and these members made it clear they wanted him to continue as their BA. The priority for the Local was to figure out a pathway for this to happen where we retained our Nor Cal members.
I want to thank Local 315 Secretary-Treasurer and Principal Officer Don E. Garcia, President Alberto Ruiz, and the Executive Board for working with Local 896 to reach an agreement that benefits both locals. Local 315 is gaining an outstanding Business Agent in Brian, and Local 896 will continue to benefit from his representation of more than 300 members at Shasta Beverage in Hayward, Safeway Beverage in Richmond, and Coca-Cola in San Leandro. This arrangement is a clear win for both locals. The Richmond Beverage new contract books have been returned from the printer and have been mailed to Brian and will soon be handed out to the members. I want to remind the 896 members to watch their Union Bulletin Boards for upcoming notices of Union meetings that will be held at the 315 Union Hall.
