Officials honor Delorio at San Fran City Hall

On the afternoon of Tuesday Oct. 24, the usual business agenda of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors was suspended, briefly, to present a commendation to Teamsters Local 665 Principal Officer Tony Delorio for his leadership and commitment to the community.

The presentation of a Certificate of Honor, initiated by Supervisor Catherine Stefani and signed by every member of the Board, recognized Delorio for his unwavering commitment to the labor movement. The commendation included recognition of Delorio’s engagement, promotion and service to the greater San Francisco community.

In recent years Delorio had suggested to civic leaders the need for recognition of the contributions of the city’s Italian community, past and present. The commendation presented to Delorio recognized his efforts in the establishment of Italian Heritage Month, now an official designation by the City of San Francisco.

The ceremony in the Supervisor’s Chambers was attended by Tony’s family, friends, and fellow union leaders.
