Republic Services members achieve major wage increases, more, in new agreement

Teamsters at Republic services in Fairfield, ratified three historic contracts in May (Garbage, Recycle Center, and Clerical). The garbage unit alone has wage increases of at least 40% per member over the course of a five-year agreement. Increases in health and welfare, pension, and adding the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday further sweetened the deal. Ed Ellerby and Shawn Scibek, both having 38 years with the company, said, “In all our years here, we have never seen anything even close to this. We speak on behalf of the Republic members in Fairfield, when we say that we would like to thank our Business Agent Dustin Baumbach for his incredible leadership and following through with the promise to get us an otherwise unbelievable deal.”
Members named among NWRA’s ‘Drivers of the Year’
Twelve Recology Drivers of the Year honorees were celebrated by the National Waste and Recycling Association (NWRA) for their commitment to safety, years of service, route difficulty, and community engagement.
The NWRA honored Recology Davis Local 315 Member Jose Duran.
Two of the twelve Driver of the Year honorees were Teamsters Local 315 members, Miguel Garcia (Recology Vacaville) and Jose Duran (Recology Davis).
